Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Most months, Netflix doesn’t lose too many of its great films or TV shows, just a few of random Adam Sandler flicks, a couple of documentaries, but not much else.

Unfortunately for UK subscribers, May 2016 is not one of those months (it is much better across the pond in the US).

Firstly, it should be noted that on the 30 April, Netflix is losing two classics: Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction and Tom Cruise’s War of the Worlds.

However, it is on the 2 May when the real spring clean is set to happen, with 76 titles expiring, most of which are Disney films.

To name just a few (in alphabetical order), we’re losing The Aristocats, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Brave, Flubber, Frozen, Monsters University, The Muppets, Pinocchio, Ratatouille, Toy Story (1,2, and 3), Treasure Planet and Up.

With so many Disney films leaving the service, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the company start pushing their own streaming service, DisneyLife, in the next few months.

To make up for the loss, Netflix is adding the likes of Bloodline, Marseille and Cartel Land.
