"Obviously there’s only so much I can say but what I can say is that we shot [the first] one all in the U.K., that won’t be the case with the next one."

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Kingsman: The Secret Service's bold spin on the spy parody paid off handsomely both at home and abroad, with Matthew Vaughn's action pic internationally raking in a substantial $140M.

That's opened a fair few doors for its sequel, with returning star Taron Egerton now promising Kingsman 2 will indeed go bigger and bolder in its ambitions. He told Collider; "With Kingsman, we’re shooting in the summer at present. There’s a script, it’s brilliant. Obviously there’s only so much I can say but what I can say is that we shot [the first] one all in the U.K., that won’t be the case with the next one."

"It’s a far more international story, we’re going to some incredible places, and we have a villain to rival Samuel L. Jackson—this new one is so brilliantly written I wish I could play it. It’s amazing."

Kingsman: Colin Firth chat

Egerton is, of course, confirmed to return; though obvious reasons may abstain Colin Firth's Harry Hart from returning, director Matthew Vaughn still hinted he may be able to work something out for the gentleman's spy.

Egerton had previously confirmed production had commenced on the sequel in preparation for its summer shoot.

The actor is currently attending the Sundance Film Festival to promote a secret screening of his upcoming biopic Eddie the Eagle, which will see the Olympian underdog's story hit UK screens 28 March.

Kingsman 2 is set for a US release on 16 June 2017, though there's no confirmation on when the film will be released in the UK.
