From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Justin Long has claimed he is sure he has coronavirus but is unable to get tested as he is not considered part of a “high-risk” group.

The Dodgeball actor revealed on his podcast, Life is Short with Justin Long, that he and his brother Christian had exhibited a number of COVID-19 symptoms.

Long explained that he had experienced “achiness, some nausea, headaches, and then the tightness in the chests”.

Long said that he suspects he caught the illness from his brother and his brother’s girlfriend Maggie, who returned from a work trip with a dry cough and a fever. They both later lost the sense of smell and taste.

Neither brother was able to get tested for coronavirus, however, as they are not considered “high-enough risk”, Long said.

“As many of you know, you have to be in a high-risk group, which is older people and people with compromised immune systems, or it has to be severe enough in your system,” he explained.

While Long confirmed that his brother’s girlfriend no longer has any coronavirus symptoms, he added that he and Christian are both self-isolating as a precaution.

Long, who has appeared in films including Galaxy Quest, Jeepers Creepers and Idiocracy, is one of a number of stars to contract (or believe they’ve contracted) COVID-19.

A-listers including Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, Idris Elba and Paul Chuckle have all revealed they’ve tested positive for the illness.
