Reshoots are currently underway for DC's big team-up movie, but they've hit an unusual set of complications: Superman himself, Henry Cavill, is currently sporting a giant moustache.
Variety reports Warner Bros. is struggling to fit in Justice League reshoots around both Cavill and Ezra Miller's current schedule, with the latter busy reprising his role in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel.
Cavill, meanwhile, is shooting the sixth Mission: Impossible sequel and Paramount has strictly refused to let the actor shave the facial fuzz he grew for the film; his upper-lip buddy will now have to be digitally removed in post-production.
Extensive reshoots (here costing $25 million) in themselves tend to attract a lot of negative press, but they aren't necessarily a cause for concern; last year, Rogue One was already pre-deemed a disaster because of lengthy reshoots over the summer, though it's since come out that they actually helped even out some narrative bumps (and added that brutal, thrilling Darth Vader scene at the end).
However, another tangle Warner Bros. is currently trying to wade through is that of crediting. Joss Whedon has been overseeing the project for several months now, after Zack Snyder's sad departure after the death of his daughter in March, but it seems as if he won't receive a co-directing credit.
He may, however, receive a producing or screenwriting credit instead, similar to how Disney treated Tony Gilroy after he stepped in to oversee Rogue One's reshoots.
Indeed, sources report the focus of the reshoots has been on punching up the dialogue, with Whedon working on the "connective tissue" between the film's action set pieces.
Justice League hits UK cinemas 17 November.
