Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Trailer

Suddenly, the hiring of J.A. Bayona, best known for Spanish language-chiller The Orphanage, makes total sense.

It appears Jurassic World, in its sequel Fallen Kingdom, is pivoting itself firmly towards the direction of horror; as fairly well evident from the Super Bowl trailer's opening shot, which reveals a nightmarish new dinosaur, its claw reaching out for a terrified little girl in her bed.

This new creation is explained as Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) overlooks the first public reveal of something called the Indoraptor, which seems to combine elements of the last film's Indominus Rex and the velociraptor.

Presumably, the Indoraptor is the next step of InGen's plan to create weaponised dinosaurs for military use, as enthused over by Jurassic World's Victor Hoskins (Vincent D'Onofrio).

However, Claire and Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) will also have to contend with attempts to rescue the remaining dinosaurs on Isla Nublar after its dormant volcano suddenly comes to life.

The film also stars James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Geraldine Chaplin, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, and Isabella Simon. BD Wong and Jeff Goldblum will also return to reprise their roles.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hits UK cinemas 6 June.
