From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Given the huge success of Get Out and the ardent fanbase it garnered, expectation is huge for director Jordan Peele's next film.

Today, he confirmed it will be called Us, sharing a first poster for the movie.

The poster is minimalist and doesn't give much away, showing what appears to be a Rorschach-like mirror image of a black woman's face in profile.

Peele's tweet has already attracted over 170,000 retweets.

Though plot details are being kept firmly under wraps, Variety reports that Lupita Nyong'o is in talks to star, with Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid's Tale) and Winston Duke (Black Panther) in line for another lead role.

Us will be the first movie under Peele's first-look deal with Universal Picture.

The writer-director, who picked up the Original Screenplay award at the 2018 Oscars, is currently executive producing TV show The Last O.G. and will also produce the upcoming television remake of The Twilight Zone.
