Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Jennifer Lawrence took her mean tweet in good humour when she appeared on the basically-viral segment of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Appearing alongside the likes of Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot, Jake Gyllenhaal and Emma Watson, Lawrence was asked to read out a post by a Twitter troll.

"I bet Jennifer Lawrence gives really unenthusiastic h**djobs," the actress read, before looking at the camera and asking: "How did they know?!"

"Emma Watson seems like the type of girl who I would be friends with for like three days and then get really sick of and not tell her," a slightly wounded-looking Watson read out.

"Jim Parson looks like a ventriloquist dummy that came to life to become a sex offender," the Big Bang Theory star read out. "Oh god."

"Jaime Lannister has a tiny d***, pass it on," Game of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau read.

Alec Baldwin read a tweet from @RealDonaldTrump: "Just tried watching Saturday Night Live - unwatchable! Totally biased, not funny, and the Alec Baldwin impression can't get any worse. Sad!"

Meanwhile Kumail Nanjiana gave a troll a run for his money, reading: "Is Kumail Nanjiani's d**k multiple colours?"

"Yes," he replied, looking to the camera. "Every shade of your mum's lipstick."
