From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A brand new trailer for Stephen King adaptation It has been released building on its promise of being one of the year's scariest films.

The new look at the forthcoming film from Andy Muschietti (Mama) shows off the film's villain, the devilish Pennywise, who haunts a group of kids (known as The Loser Club) as they enter the sewers of Maine to search for their missing friend.

Bill Skarsgård looks to be on star-making form playing Pennywise while the film's young cast - including Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard - aren't particularly struggling in their efforts to look terrified.

It isn't the only King adaptation to be released this year - The Dark Tower, starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, will be released in August fit with a running time that has the author's fans concerned.

The first trailer for Stephen King’s It managed to break records, being streamed 197 million times globally in just 24 hours and beating previous record holder Fast & Furious 8.

It will be released 8 September.
