Your support makes all the difference. It Chapter Two star Jessica Chastain has claimed that the horror sequel used a record amount of fake blood during filming.
Speaking at a Comic-Con panel for the new film in San Diego, the actor revealed that a total of “4,500 gallons” of fake blood was used on set.
The entirety of Game of Thrones season eight used 4,000 gallons, for reference.
Chastain, who plays the only female member of the movie’s central gang of friends, The Losers Club, added that she spends a considerable amount of the third act totally drenched in blood: “I’m a glutton for punishment,” she said.
Director Andy Muschietti apparently tried to find a way for the blood to only be visible up to Chastain’s collarbone, but the actor revealed that she wanted the whole hog.
“Everyone else was comfortable between takes, while I sat in a baby pool of blood,” she said.
Referencing another of Stephen King’s horror films, Chastain added: “Let’s make Carrie on steroids.”
The movie also stars James McAvoy and Bill Hader, and follows The Losers Club some 27 years after the events of the first film, as they reunite as adults to take on It, the shapeshifting embodiment of evil.
It Chapter Two will be released in UK cinemas on 6 September 2019.
