From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Disney has released the first official trailer for their upcoming live-action film, Into The Woods (scroll down to see the video).

The film brings several favourite fairytale characters to life, combining them all in a musical adventure.

It tells the story of a baker (James Corden) and his wife (Emily Blunt) who wish to break the curse that leaves them childless. To do this, they must venture into the woods to retrieve magical objects.

Throughout the journey, we are introduced to a host of other fairytale characters including Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood. These characters must face the evil witch (Meryl Streep) and the infamous Big Bad Wolf (Johnny Depp).

The trailer depicts a number of recognisable characters (Jack and his Beanstalk and Red Riding Hood as well as Cinderella and the Baker) proclaiming “I wish” before showing the film’s tagline “Be careful what you wish for”.

However, with the original Broadway production winning a Tony award for Best Original Score, there could be a lot to look forward to.

Into The Woods is released in the UK on 9 January 2015.
