Even the BBC is in denial about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

This Christmas, millions of families across the United Kingdom will be gathered around their TV screens on the Tuesday following Boxing Day, likely tired from two days of merry making.

Thankfully, the BBC is airing one of the greatest blockbuster films of all time, the first Indiana Jones film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, on the 27th of December. For many, it will be a nostalgic trip down memory lane. For those born this century, a chance to see Spielberg and Ford at their peak. The film starts at 1.35pm on BBC One, a prime time slot for the Christmas period.

The following day, the 28th of December, at 1.45pm, the slightly less well received but highly serviceable Temple of Doom airs on the same channel. Then, on the 29th, the brilliant, Sean Connery-starring The Last Crusade hits TV screens at 1.45pm, completing the original trilogy.

However, despite common sense obviously saying Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will air on the 30th during a similar time slot, that’s not the case. Instead, the BBC are sneakily trying to hide the fourth Indiana Jones blockbuster, broadcasting the film at the less favourable time of 11.20pm (the film finishing at 1.15am).

Instead, the broadcaster is showing Kung Fu Panda 2 at 2.20pm on the 30th. A far superior film (sorry Spielberg).
