From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed he will be back to star in the next Terminator film.

The actor has signed up to Terminator 5, which is due to start filming in January.

Schwarzenegger told The Arnold Fans website he was “very happy” to be cast in the role. He also revealed other plans to star in King Conan and another Twins film.

“In fact, I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star as the terminator, which we start shooting in January…So I feel very proud of that. I feel very happy and I’m looking forward to doing those films,” he said.

It was previously unknown whether Schwarzenegger would return to the franchise to play terminator, with some rumours claiming he might be cast as a human in the next film.

The star, who was governor of California for eight years, played the cyborg assassin in three Terminator films released between 1984 and 2003, but didn’t appear in the 2009 film Terminator Salvation, which starred Christian Bale and Sam Worthington.

Since his 2003 appearance in Terminator 3: Rise, Schwarzenegger has starred in The Expendables, Around the World in 80 Days and The Last Stand.
