Your support makes all the difference.Logan may be Hugh Jackman's final hurrah as Wolverine, but the actor has revealed the one thing that may have convinced him to keep on playing the popular X-Men character.
While promoting the film, Jackman stated that if there had been an opportunity for the X-Men franchise to crossover with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he may have considered staying on for a few more films.
He told ScreenRant: “If [an Avengers-crossover] was on the table when I made my decision, it certainly would have made me pause. That’s for sure. Because I always love the idea of him within that dynamic, with the Hulk obviously, with Iron Man but there’s a lot of smarter people with MBAs who can’t figure that out. You never know.”
20th Century Fox, the distributor of the X-Men franchise, has famously not been able to strike a deal with Marvel to enable a crossover. Character Quicksilver has appeared in both franchises albeit played by different actors (Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Evan Peters in X-Men: Days of Future Past).
In a podcast interview with The Independent, Sir Patrick Stewart revealed that an emotional viewing of Logan with Jackman has prompted him to decide he won't return as Professor Charles Xavier, a character he has played seven times over 17 years. You can listen to the full thing here.
Logan is a 15-certificate take on a Wolverine film following two tamer instalments. Directed by James Mangold, the film - which won't feature a post-credits scene - co-stars Stephen Merchant, Elizabeth Rodriguez and newcomer Dafne Keen who plays young mutant, X-23.
It will be released in the UK on 1 March.
