Hugh Grant admits he ‘can’t remember’ what happens in Love Actually

Grant famously played the prime minister in the 2003 classic

Hugh Grant has admitted he can’t remember what happens at the end of Love Actually.

Grant, who last starred in the hit miniseries The Undoing, played the British prime minister in the 2003 Richard Curtis classic.

When pressed on whether he’d ever return for a sequel, Grant confessed that he had no idea where the original film left his character.

“I can’t even remember what happens in the film,” Grant told Digital Spy. “It’s so long since I’ve seen it. You’d have to remind me. How do I end up?”

Grant’s storyline in the ensemble romcom involved him standing up against the controlling interests of the US president (played by Billy Bob Thornton) and finding love with Natalie (Martine McCutcheon), who works as part of the household staff at 10 Downing Street.

Grant’s character is last seen kissing Natalie at Heathrow Airport and posing for photographers, with their relationship having gone public.

Love Actually was followed up by a short film sequel in 2007, which was produced for Red Nose Day. Titled Red Nose Day Actually, it was set 13 years after the original movie, and confirmed that Grant and McCutcheon’s characters were still together.

Last year, Grant speculated that his character in the 1999 romcom Notting Hill would have had a less happy ending after the credits rolled.

He told an interviewer that he believed bookshop owner William (Grant) and Hollywood star Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) would embark upon “the ugliest imaginable divorce”.
