From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The first teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 has been released and it seems James Gunn's sequel will keep exactly the same tone as the 2014 interstellar smash.

As a dramatic montage sequence showing characters Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Yondu (Michael Rooker) and Peter "Star-Lord" Quill (Chris Pratt) plays out, "Hooked on a Feeling" - the Blue Swede song memorably used in the first film - can be heard playing.

Following this, Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) can be heard telling Star-Lord, "'There are two types of being in the universe - those who dance and those who do not' before a brief cameo from Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Vin Diesel's now-baby Groot.

You can watch the teaser above.

A full trailer is expected to be shown alongside the cinematic release of Marvel film Doctor Strange which is released in UK cinemas next week.

Earlier this year, a scene from the film, showing Yondu and Rocket Raccoon escaping from a jail cell with the help of the adorable Baby Groot, was shown to audiences at San Diego Comic-Con. This was then followed by a trailer, which opened with Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" and the Guardians attacking an inter-dimensional beast. This footage is yet to apepar online.

It also featured the debut of Kurt Russell's Ego the Living Planet, who has already been revealed to be Star-Lord's father.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 will be released in the UK on 31 July 2017.
