Though showing up at the Razzies ceremony on 27 February could prove a lucky charm

This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

Eddie Redmayne will be waiting anxiously to hear if he has been nominated for an Oscar for his performance in The Danish Girl, a year after triumphing in the best actor category.
He received a nomination for a very different award on 14 January, one that takes place the night before Hollywood’s biggest event, but he may be less keen to attend.
A year after picking up the best actor Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, Redmayne has been nominated in the worst supporting actor category at the annual Golden Raspberry Awards – which recognises the worst films – for his performance in sci-fi film, Jupiter Ascending.
Redmayne can, however, take solace that showing up at the Razzies ceremony on 27 February could prove a lucky charm. In 2010, Sandra Bullock became one of the few actors to receive the award in person. She was named worst actress for All About Steve and the next day received the best actress Oscar for The Blind Side.
There is more British interest at this year’s Razzies as Fifty Shades of Grey leads the field with six nominations, including worst picture, worst screenplay and worst director for artist Sam Taylor-Johnson. Stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are up for worst actor and actress and worst screen combo.
