Golden Globes 2019: Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh share teaser promising 'celebrities, accolades and slap fights'
NBC released the first official promo for the event, which will see Samberg and Oh take over hosting duties from Seth Meyers
While the Academy Awards organisers are still struggling to fill its host position after Kevin Hart stepped down – following uproar over his past homophobic comments – Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh look set to be a highlight of the Golden Globes.
NBC released the first official promo for the event, which will see Samberg and Oh take over hosting duties from Seth Meyers. They are the first duo to host since Amy Poehler and Tiny Fey served as masters of ceremonies from 2013 to 2015.
The teaser offers a glimpse of what to expect on 6 January, with the pair seeming to be enjoying their role enormously. In one clip, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Killing Eve stars promise a night of celebrities, accolades, dogs, flying cars and slap fights.
A second, longer teaser for the awards ceremony shows the pair attempting a best friends handshake.
Their clear chemistry as presenters of the Best TV Comedy Director category at the 2018 Emmys apparently caught the eye of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which then invited them to host the Golden Globes.
The nominees at next year's ceremony include Black Panther for Best Picture, while Olivia Colman received a long-overdue nomination for Best Actress, for her role in The Favourite.
Other British talent to receive nods are Rosumand Pike (A Private War), Emily Blunt (Mary Poppins), Christian Bale (Vice), Claire Foy (First Man) and Benedict Cumberbatch, Hugh Grant and Thandie Newton for their respective roles in Patrick Melrose, A Very English Scandal, and Westworld.
The 76th annual Golden Globes ceremony takes place on 6 January 2019.
