Golden Globes 2016 nominations: The full list

Room, Spotlight and The Hateful Eight are all up for Best Screenplay

The nominations for the 73rd annual Golden Globes nominations have been announced, with Carol receiving the most nods (five) and Netflix outdoing itself to rival the TV networks with eight.

Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara are both up for acting awards for their roles in the drama, with director Todd Haynes nominated for steering the film and the film itself being up for Best Picture.

The Revenant and The Big Short were close behind Carol, each garnering four nominations.

TV shows American Crime, Fargo, Mr. Robot, Outlander and Transparent all got nods, and Lady Gaga received her first acting nomination for American Horror Story: Hotel.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Eddie Redmayne and Bryan Cranston will fight over the Best Actor (drama) award, while the musical/comedy equivalent will be contested by two actors from The Big Short (Steve Carell and Christian Bale) and The Martian's Matt Damon.

Awards darling Jennifer Lawrence was nominated for new David O. Russell collaboration Joy, though early reviews of the film haven't been great.
