Your support makes all the difference.While most studios are leaping on every superhero property imaginable, Fox seem reluctant to get the ball rolling with their upcoming Gambit adaptation.
First of all, they removed the film from their upcoming film slate, leaving it in a state of limbo. Even before then, though, rumours had been swelling that lead star Channing Tatum was thinking of leaving the project even though he seemed to be one of the driving forces behind it.
Now, director Doug Liam has delayed work on the movie to work on his upcoming sniper thriller The Wall for Amazon Studios.
The Wrap has reported that he hopes to ‘knock out the modestly scaled project quickly this summer’ before returning to the Marvel property.
Originally Gambit was set for a 7 October 2016 release though production was delayed reportedly down to scripting issues. Rupert Wyatt was once attached to the project, with Lea Seydoux on to play the film’s leading lady, but both have since left.
Meanwhile, Deadpool - also set in the X-Men universe - has been breaking box-office records, having become the highest grossing R-Rated film ever.
