From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Han Solo prequel/spin-off/anthology movie/whatever you want to call it co-director Christopher Miller has posted the first image from the set, seeing the smuggler’s infamous blaster lying on a retro computer dashboard.
“Can't wait to get "shooting”!” he wrote alongside the image, a reference to the whole who-shot-first debate with bounty hunter Greedo.
Though production is about to begin, we still don’t know who will actually be playing the young Han.
Jack Reynor, Taron Egerton, Alden Ehrenreich and Emory Cohen are thought to comprise the shortlist, but it seems as though Disney has been struggling to settle on one of them.
The Han Solo prequel will open in cinemas on 25 May, 2018, coming after this year’s Rogue One spin-off, next year’s Star Wars 8 sequel and 2019’s Star Wars 9 trilogy ender.
Star Wars 8 is already halfway through filming, with Princes Harry and William thought to have filmed a cameo during a set visit.
