Evan Rachel Wood has shared a scathing review of Cats on her social media.

The actor shared her reaction on Twitter and Instagram, including via deleted tweets that took aim at how the film changed the “iconic” choreography of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical.

“……..#cats is actually worse than I thought it would be, And I already thought it would be horrible. But….I am actually speechless. Why would you change the choreography? I…am SPEECHLESS,” Wood said in a now-deleted tweet.

On Instagram Stories she exclaimed: “I have to have an actual live reaction of this. What the f—, what the f—, what the f—? What? What? What… the f—? What the f—? Oh my god!”

Wood, whose own career to date has spanned two decades, continued to complain that the film didn’t pay proper tribute to the Broadway show.

“They changed all the iconic choreography,” she wrote via Instagram. “Took out 70 per cent of the main characters. Changed the plot. I grew up in theatre. I was married to a dancer. I have massive respect for what they do, which is why this was such a letdown and missed opportunity for that community.”

In another deleted tweet, Wood made it clear she does not think the film’s cast, which includes Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, James Corden, Rebel Wilson and Taylor Swift, were to blame.

Cats has turned out to be one of the biggest critical and commercial disasters of the decade.

It currently has an 18 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has been almost unanimously derided by professional critics.

At the box office it didn’t fare any better, taking just $15.3 million worldwide over six days, against a $100 million budget.

It was recently revealed that Universal Pictures has removed the film from Oscars consideration, in apparent response to the backlash.
