According to Deadline, Jack Kesy — best known for his role in the US TV series The Strain, and with an upcoming role in Baywatch — will play the film’s main villain.
While unconfirmed, insiders reportedly believe Kesy will play the X-Men character Black Tom, a Dublin-born mutant who can ‘manipulate, bond with, and project energy through plant life’.
Yes, the villain for Deadpool 2 will likely be an Irish, plant controlling mutant who uses a shillelagh to issue concussive blasts to enemies.
The upcoming sequel will be directed by David Leitch — who previously helmed John Wick and Atomic Blonde — with Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapacic (Colossus), and Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) all returning. Zazie Beetz has also been confirmed to play the mutant Domino.
Deadpool 2’s release date was recently announced (1 June 2018) along with a date for Josh Boone’s New Mutants, and the upcoming Dark Phoenix.
