From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Following the news that Tim Miller has departed the Deadpool sequel, fans are getting some big ideas as to who could replace him.

A petition is currently doing the rounds on Change.org and it seems they won't settle for anything less than Quentin Tarantino.

Miller stepped down as director of Deadpool 2 following 'creative differences' with producer and lead actor Ryan Reynolds; it's believed they had different viewpoints on who could play the film's villain, Cable (producers are reported to have wanted Friday Night Lights actor Kyle Chandler).

The petition reads: "If there was ever a chance to see Tarantino do a project almost guaranteed to make a billion dollars, this is it. We got a great taste of what this could be like in Kill Bill, but imagine having a guy like Tarantino write dialogue for The Merc with the Mouth! It would be so glorious. Join me!"

It's almost certain the petition won't be successful but we're sure if the Pulp Fiction filmmaker opted to take the directing reins from Miller, it'd be a solid iteration into his ten-film career, his most recent film, The Hateful Eight, being his eighth.

Continuing in the same adult tone as X-Men spin-off Deadpool is final Wolverine outing Logan which debuted its first trailer last week.
