Your support makes all the difference. Before Deadpool reached cinemas, Fox had little faith in their R-Rated superhero property. Compared to the other X-Men films, Ryan Reynolds’ flick had a modest budget of $58 million and went through production hell, delayed for numerous years.
As many of you will no doubt know, Deadpool was a phenomenal success, become the highest grossing R-Rated film ever and leading to Fox announcing a sequel.
Development for the second film hit a speed bump just weeks ago when director Tim Miller left the project due to “creative differences” with the creative team, reportedly because of arguments over budget.
However, despite the news dampening some fans expectations, rumour has it John Wick director David Leitch is negotiating to direct, something many are excited by.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox is already planning a third Deadpool film. Sources also revealed the studio are looking to employ a writer capable of bringing in another X-Men based team, the X-Force, acting as a semi-reboot for the superhero series.
In the comics, the X-Force were a superhero squad led by Cable - a mutant set to be introduced in Deadpool 2. Other members have included Wolverine, Psylocke, and Cyclops over the years.
Meanwhile, Tim Miller has announced his next project following his departure from Deadpool 2: a live-action/CG-animation hybrid feature-length about Sonic the Hedgehog.
