From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

You get together a bunch of '90s boy bands and make them fight zombies. Which actually happens to be Day One on the Making a Terrible Movie Everyone Will Inevitably Watch 101 course, funnily enough.
Dead 7 is Syfy's new original film, which hurls into an undead-plagued Wild Wild West the likes of Nick Carter (who co-wrote the screenplay), A.J. McLean, and Howie Dorough from The Backstreet Boys; Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick from 'N Sync; Jeff Timmons from 98 Degrees; and Erik-Michael Estrada, Jacob Underwood, Trevor Penick, and Dan Miller from O-Town. And you can watch the brand new trailer, courtesy of Buzzfeed, right here.
Yes, Justin Timberlake's name is very notably absent from that list, and fans are still certainly holding out for a cameo; but the day JT pops up in a Syfy movie is the day he decides to take sexy and drive it to the abandoned wharf so he can dump it on the curb.
"I think people will be pleasantly surprised. We’re taking it seriously. That doesn’t mean that the actual movie is serious. I mean, come on—we’re fighting zombies, for cryin’ out loud." Fatone told The Daily Beast; describing his character Whiskey Joe as "Beetlejuice meets Captain Jack Sparrow."
The cast and crew do seem to have had a blast filming the zombie flick, even making a surprise visit to a local karaoke bar to perform a supergroup version of 'I Want it That Way'. Though, let's just say, it maybe wasn't their best performance...
Time to say bye bye bye to you precious time; because you know you're going to end up watching this.
Dead 7 premieres on Syfy; 1 April, at 8PM ET/PT in the US.
