Star Wars fans have been left concerned following the news Hayden Christensen will return as Darth Vader.

While the main reaction to the news of the character’s appearance in Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series has been joy, many fans have been thinking about the sci-fi franchise’s timeline – and have been left feeling confused as a result.

The series will take place 10 years after Revenge of the Sith and before A New Hope, with Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker now fully evolved into Darth Vader.

They will face off in what is being teased as “the rematch of the century”.

However, some fans are worried that it will lessen the impact of their eventual encounter in A New Hope.

“Anakin and Obi Wan will have a rematch... doesn’t that screw up their dialogue in A New Hope?” one fan wondered.

Another added: “Very cautious about this because the only time they’re meant to meet again is on the Death Star.  The impact of that showdown will be cheapened if they fight in between that.”

One fan hoped his appearance would be a vision, with someone stating: “If they do that, I’ll actually give them credit for it. I wouldn't want them to f*** up their confrontational reunion in A New Hope.”

Of course, most fans don’t really care and are just excited to see Christensen properly returning to the role for the first time since 2005.
