The remake of cult Nineties film The Crow is to start filming next spring.

Producer Ed Pressman, who was also behind the original, said that production on the horror film was due to start in early 2015.

Pressman told The Hollywood Reporter: “It still has a big fan base even though it was so long ago. But the generation today doesn’t even know The Crow.”

The film, which follows a brutally murdered man come back to life in a bid to avenge his and his fiancée’s murder, starred the late Brandon Lee in the 1994 original.

Lee died at the age of 28 while filming the movie after an accidental shooting on the set.

A number of actors have been tipped to take on the lead role of Eric Draven in the remake, with Dracula Untold star Luke Evans said to be the current favourite.

Tom Hiddleston and Bradley Cooper have also reportedly been in previous talks to star.

However, Pressman said casting was yet to be confirmed.
