Film to appeal to 'gamers and non-gamers alike'

Prepare to bask in gaming nostalgia as Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are to chart the industry-defining era that saw Sega take on the might of Nintendo.

The film will be based on Blake Harris' book Console Wars, according to publisher Atlantic Books a 'riveting behind-the-scenes business thriller that chronicles how Sega, a small, scrappy gaming company led by an unlikely visionary, took on the juggernaut Nintendo and revolutionized the video game industry.'

Sony Pictures and The Social Network's Scott Rudion are developing the project, with Rogen set to direct and write the script with long-serving collaborator Goldberg.

Harris drew on hundreds of interviews to create his account of the titanic corporate battle, which shaped an industry now worth $50 billion (more than film and music industry combined).

Toby Mundy, who acquired the book, said: "Blake Harris's amazing book has all the narrative drama of the work of Michael Lewis and Ben Mezrich. It should appeal to gamers and non-gamers alike."
