Cardi B was issued a stern warning after not attending a court date on Monday, it has been reported.

The rapper, 26, was due to appear in New York City criminal court facing charges of assault and reckless endangerment in connection with a fight at a strip club.

She did not show up to the arraignment and a judge threatened to issue a bench warrant for her arrest if she misses her next appointment, NBC New York reported.

The performer – real name Belcalis Almanzar – skipped Monday morning's court date due to a prior engagement, which the judge had allowed, according to NBC New York.

Cardi B's arraignment has been postponed to Friday.

Her attorneys were in court on Monday to represent her.

The Independent has reached out to Cardi B's team for comment.

The rapper surrendered to police in October after being accused of involvement in the 15 August incident at the Angels NYC strip club in the borough of Queens.

Jeff Kern, a representative for the rapper, told reporters at the time of her arrest: "We're aware of no evidence that she caused anybody any harm at the club that night."

According to the New York Times, Cardi B accused one of two sisters who tend bar at the club of having an affair with her husband, Offset, who is part of the rap trio Migos.

Citing police, the newspaper said Cardi B's bodyguards and members of her entourage attacked the sisters with bottles and chairs.

Cardi B, a two-time Grammy award nominee, has topped music charts in recent years with hits "Bodak Yellow" and "Girls Like You," a collaboration with Maroon 5.
