From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. An international trailer for Captain Marvel containing some previously unseen footage has revealed a link between the upcoming superhero flick and last year’s blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War.

One new scene has intrigued fans, as it see Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) handing Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) a very familiar pager. The duo then escape a threat through a hanger and seemingly escape in the (much older) Quinjet.

That pager was, as Marvel fans will know, last seen during the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War.

Just before Thanos triggered the infamous “snap”, Fury can been seen messaging someone for help on pager – a pager adorned with Captain Marvel’s colours.

Knowing the device acts as a way of communication between the two only further shows that the Captain is on her way to save the universe, likely with the help of the Avengers, in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame.

Meanwhile, Jackson’s Fury recently appeared in the trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home, the events of which take place after Endgame. How Fury comes back from being dusted remain a mystery, but the trailer for Agents of SHIELD has strongly hinted that the organisation will play a role in the film.

Captain Marvel reaches cinemas 8 March.
