Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Superhero fans may be ecstatic about Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, but let’s not forget about the other upcoming Marvel releases coming soon: Ant Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel, and the untitled fourth Avengers movie.
We’ve already seen the first official image from Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly’s sequel, while Marvel Studios are keeping everything about the next Avengers under wraps until Infinity War reaches cinemas.
That leaves Captain Marvel, a movie that was announced years ago. Brie Larson has been attached to the project for some time, but only now are we finally getting a look at the actor in costume.
Brie can be seen wearing a green suit, that borrows heavily from the comics. Unlike recent Avengers outfits that have been stocked with new tech, the costume shares more in common with Captain America’s from The First Avenger.
The older style would be fitting with Captain Marvel’s setting: the movie will take place during the 90s and will feature Nick Fury, presumably with two eyes.
Other actors attached to the Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck-directed movie are Ben Mendelsohn in a mysterious role, and Jude Law as the character Mar-Vell.
Meanwhile, excitement for Black Panther continues to ratchet up, the movie reaching UK cinemas 12 February. Read all about the Chadwick Boseman-fronted flick here.
