The Canadian actress has been tipped to return by industry insider Deadline, but details of her role in the storyline are yet to emerge.
Agent 13 featured in Winter Soldier under the name Kate, who was posing as Steve Rogers’ neighbour after being ordered by S.H.I.E.L.D to protect him.
In the Marvel comics, the character is known by her real name Sharon Carter, niece of Captain America’s love interest Peggy in first movie Captain America: The First Avenger.
It has not been confirmed that Agent 13 is Sharon Carter in the films, but many Marvel fans know exactly who she is. She was also recently the focus of her own ABC miniseries, Agent Carter.
Captain America: Civil War reaches UK cinemas on 29 April 2016, with Sherlock and The Hobbit star Martin Freeman the latest confirmed actor to join the movie.
Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie and Daniel Bruhl are also among the cast.
Here’s what we know about the storyline so far: It follows on from box office smash Avengers: Age of Ultron; a huge rivalry breaks out between Captain America and Iron Man after the world’s governments pass a law to regulate superhuman activity; and then an epic battle ensues.
