From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The film - which will not only feature the titular hero battling Iron Man, but also introduce the world to a new incarnation of Spider-Man - is set for release this April and the directors are already busy promoting their upcoming film.
In an interview with Forbes, the Russo brothers - Anthony and Joe - not only responded to criticism against the Spider-Man suit seen in the second trailer, but also revealed there could be up to three post-credit scenes.
“We can’t say who is going to be in it but we can say that there certainly could be one, or two, maybe three [post-credits scenes]. We can confirm that you should stay sat in your seats when the movie is done.”
Superhero films - and many others for that matter - are currently going through a trend of having post-credit scenes which tease an upcoming sequel. Avengers: Infinity War will likely be teased, as will Doctor Strange - the next film in Marvel’s cinematic universe.
Chances are there could be a Guardians of the Galaxy clip as well; James Gunn and the film’s cast have already begun work on the film. Other possibilities include teasing either the Spider-Man or Black Panther solo-films, as both characters will be introduced in the film.
Civil War reaches UK cinemas 29 April.
