From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Book Club stars an incredible quartet of actresses - Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Mary Steenburgen, and Candice Bergen - as a group of friends first dipping their toe into the expansive, blush-inducing pool that is E. L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey.
Whether adding a dash of kink to a marriage, rekindling an old flame, or chasing after new loves, all four women find their lives transformed by the literary experience.
“It’s like someone throws a grenade in the room. Their lives go kersplat,” Bergen told Entertainment Weekly.
Keaton, of course, also gets to wear a lovely array of turtlenecks, because she is forever and always Diane Keaton, while the film also happens to star Don Johnson, father to Fifty Shades star Dakota Johnson. The adventures of Christian Grey live on.
Directed by Bill Holderman, the film also stars Richard Dreyfuss, Andy Garcia, and Alicia Silverstone. Book Club hits UK cinemas 1 June.
