Billie Eilish will perform the theme song for the new James Bond film No Time to Die.

The singer’s official Twitter account announced the news on Tuesday.

“Billie has written and will perform the theme song for the 25th James Bond film, #NoTimeToDie,” reads the update.

Eilish, at the age of 18, will become the youngest recording artist to have performed a title tune for the franchise.

The Grammy-nominated music star said: “It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honour.

“James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”

Recently, Sam Smith sang “Writing’s on the Wall” for Spectre in 2015, while Adele delivered title tune “Skyfall” in 2012. Jack White, Madonna, Bono, Alicia Keys, Tina Turner, Gladys Knight, and Paul McCartney have all contributed songs for various James Bond films over the years.

The announcement comes after growing speculation that Eilish would sing the tune for the 25th Bond film.

Eilish had shared a series of images from several Bond movies on her Instagram story. There are eight in total, one of which includes Halle Berry’s character in Die Another Day (2002).

Fans also noticed that director Cary Joji Fukunaga follows Eilish on Instagram – making her one of just 81 people Fukunaga follows on the platform.

The first trailer for No Time to Die, which will star Rami Malek as the film’s primary villain, was released in December.

No Time to Die, which is expected to be Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007, will be released in cinemas on 2 April in the UK and 10 April in the US.
