The BET Awards are named after the Black Entertainment Television network and have been broadcast live on television since 2001.
The trophy, which the ceremony's winners receive, was originally designed by Harlem artist Carlos "Mare139" Rodriguez who was inspired by three pillars: aspire, ascend and achieve.
The 2018 ceremony will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California on June 24.

Who is performing?
This year, Bruno Mars will open the show. The currently announced performers include Nicki Minaj, Migos, Meek Mill, Ella Mai, 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Miguel, Daniel Caesar, H.E.R., YG, Jay Rock Janelle Monae, Yolanda Adams and SiR.
