Paul Dano has been cast as the Riddler in the upcoming Batman film starring Robert Pattinson.

The actor has joined the cast as the DC Comics supervillain, Warner Bros confirmed to The Independent on Thursday.

Jonah Hill was previously in talks for the part, but those talks “broke down”, Deadline reported on Wednesday.

Matt Reeves is directing the film, which will star Pattinson as the superhero and Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman.

The Batman is expected for 25 June, 2021 in the US and in the UK.

Dano’s dual roles as Paul Sunday and Eli Sunday in the 2007 There Will Be Blood earned him a BAFTA nomination.

In 2016, Dano was in the running for the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his performance in Love & Mercy.
