Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Are you ready in your heart, soul, and mind for the BAFTA victory of Leonardo DiCaprio? Or, if gravity breaks and the Earth plunges into nonsense, could someone actually stand in his way? Just imagine. While we wait, here's all the info needed to enjoy the 69th annual awards.

What day are the BAFTAs?

The BAFTAs will take place at 7pm on Sunday 14 February, held at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, central London.

How can I watch the BAFTAs?

The show isn't screened live, but an edited version is shown live on BBC One at 9PM that same evening, and will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

Who is hosting the ceremony?

Stephen Fry's back to host, marking his 11th year.

When is the red carpet show?

A red carpet pre-show will be shown on BAFTA's website from 5-7PM, with a highlights show broadcast on BBC Three at 8.30PM. The ceremony's sponsors EE will also drop their own highlights video on their YouTube channel the following morning, at 9AM Monday 15 February; hosted by Laura Whitmore (Celebrity.... Get Me Out of Here NOW!), interviewing guests by utilising a wearable 4G camera decorated with Swarovski crystals.
