From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. While we’re still waiting with huge amounts of anticipation for Black Panther, let’s not forget Avengers: Infinity War — the culmination of 10 years worth of Marvel movies — reaches cinemas this April.

With a trailer already available, Marvel Studios has since released the official plot synopsis, teasing the “deadliest showdown of all time”.

"An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time,” the synopsis reads.

“The Avengers and their super hero allies must willing to sacrifice it all in an attempt to defeat the power of Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.”

Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Panther, Black Widow, Spider-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, and many more heroes will appear in the mammoth blockbuster. Whether they survive remains anyone’s guess at this stage.

The Russo Brothers — Anthony and Joe — who helmed Captain America: Winter Soldier and Civil War return as directors for Infinity War while Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have penned the script.

The movie reaches UK cinemas 27 April. Before then, Marvel fans have Black Panther, the Wakanda-based adventure reaching cinemas 12 February.
