Avengers star Sebastian Stan caused a stir on social media after seemingly criticising his storyline in Endgame.

The actor, who plays Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, shared one fan’s criticism of the way his character’s friendship with Captain America (Chris Evans) was handled.

In reply to a post from Marvel’s official Twitter account, which showed an image of Cap and Bucky, the fan wrote: "Together until the end of the line. Or until bad, inconsistent, out-of-character writing turns Steve Rogers into his own anti-thesis. Shouldn’t it be ‘together until the end of the lie’ now?”

The fan seemed to be referencing the climactic events of Endgame, which sees Captain American leave his good pal high and dry by returning to the past to live out his life with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell).

Stan posted a screen-grab of the criticism to his Instagram page with a flushed face emoji, and his followers have translated that as the actor expressing his agreement.

Even John Boyega made this assumption.

The Star Wars actor, who has been vocal about disliking his character’s storyline in The Last Jedi, “welcomed” Stan into the small club of actors who have been vocal about not liking their characters’ arcs.

Avengers: Endgame is available to watch on NOW TV.
