At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The conclusion to 22 films – that have been released as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man in 2008 – is very much designed to end the first iteration of the long-running series, dubbed “The Infinity Saga”.
It’s been a year since the release of Infinity War and fans have been waiting to see whether the superheroes who disintegrated at the hands of Thanos (Josh Brolin) can be saved by those left alive – Captain America, Black Widow and Iron Man, included.
But the other question on everyone’s lips is: will there be a post-credits scene?
Ever since Iron Man, Marvel has made a habit of teasing future films with tantalising scenes shown during the credits or even after the entire film has ended (and sometimes both).
The most surprising thing about Endgame (and boy, are there a lot of surprises) is that there are no additional scenes after the credits – a surprise considering many expected it to feature a set-up for Marvel’s next release, Spider-Man: Far From Home, which comes out in July.
Another less surprising thing absent from the film is the promise that the Avengers will return. This phrase’s exclusion from the credits is a definitive answer for those wondering whether there’ll be a fifth film in the franchise.
While the Avengers will continue to stop evil forces from taking over the world, they won’t be doing so in their own designated film again. The series is complete.
Avengers: Endgame is in cinemas now – you can read our verdict here.
