From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The one-minute clip, which premiered on Monday on Good Morning America, sees the remaining Avengers discussing possible strategies to rescue those who succumbed to Thanos’s snaps.
Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) points out that someone (presumably Thanos) used the six Infinity Stones “again”, and Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) suggests using those same stones to hopefully “bring everyone back”.
Some, including Dr Bruce Banner / The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) are reluctant to follow the plan.
James Rhodes / War Machine (Don Cheadle) asks Captain Marvel where she has been “all this time” (Captain Marvel, the film, only premiered in 2019, seven years after the first Avengers movie), to which she responds that she was busy helping other planets in the galaxy.
Thor (Chris Hemsworth) gravely stands up, puts his hand out to summon his trademark hammer (the larger one he acquired in Infinity War), and stares down Captain Marvel.
Captain Marvel, of course, holds his gaze, and the two size each other up until Thor declares: “I like this one.”
Avengers Endgame is out in 25 April in the UK and 26 April in the US.
