Brie Larson reveals Samuel L Jackson gave her his lightsaber

Brie Larson has revealed that Samuel L Jackson gave her a unique gift from his Star Wars Day as a token of their friendship, on the set of Avengers: Endgame.

Jackson, who stars with Larson in Captain Marvel as Nick Fury, visited her on the set of Endgame on 4 May, also known as Star Wars Day, to give her the present, Larson told Jimmy Fallon on his late-night show on Wednesday.

“He walked in and just dropped this bag in my lap. It was a beautiful kind of silk bag. I was like, ‘What is this?’ and I opened it and it was his lightsaber,” Larson, a devoted Star Wars fan, said.

“And I immediately burst into tears.”

Larson joked that she’s not sure Jackson, who plays Mace Windu in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, is supposed to be in possession of the lighstaber, but that he has “cinematic immunity”.

The lightsaber, she said, is “super heavy”, was handpicked by Jackson, and has the words “bad motherf*****” engraved on it.

Larson also told Fallon about the confusing process of filming Endgame before even getting a script for Captain Marvel – and unknowingly shooting what ended up being the after-credit scene for Captain Marvel.

There has been some uncertainty as to whether Jackson will appear as Fury in Endgame, since he’s one of many characters who succumbed to Thanos’s infamous snap at the end of Infinity War.
