The movie, which was released in the UK, most of Europe and Australia last week, has achieved the second biggest box office opening in the US, trailing the $91m Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II took on its first day in 2011.
Age of Ultron beat its prequel film The Avengers, which took $80.8m on its opening day in the US in 2012, and is now on track to take between $200 and $210m in its opening weekend.
The Avengers is the third highest grossing film of all time – behind Avatar and Titanic – taking $1.52bn in global box office sales.
Age of Ultron beat Fast & Furious 7 and Fifty Shades of Grey to score the highest UK opening since Skyfall, earning £18m following its debut on 23 April.
Joss Whedon’s film has made $340m at box offices around the world so far. South Korea has proven to be the biggest fan of the Marvel and Disney Studios film, taking $43m.
The UK is not far behind with $39m, Russia with $23m, France with $20m, Australia with $18m, Germany with $16m and Mexico with $14m after just two days of the film’s release in the country.
The movie has fared well in Germany despite almost 700 cinemas refusing to show the film due to Disney’s hiked rental fees.
Age of Ultron is likely to smash box office records with a single blow of Thor’s hammer when the film opens in China on 12 May and Japan on 4 July.
