Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Dispensing with rakish news reporters and awkward office cubicle workers for the time being, in Ant-Man Paul Rudd plays a con-man with super shrinking ability.

And just look at him being all straight-faced, tucking his daughter in at night in metallic armour and staring at the horizon!

In fairness it does look like there's a bit of Ruddian humour in there (and the screenplay was co-wrote by Edgar Wright after all), with the close of this first trailer seeing Rudd's character Scott Lang ask: "One question, can we change the name?"

The full two-minute teaser follows an 18-second one that went out last week, and aired on US television last night.

Evangeline Lilly also stars, along with Corey Stoll (Pete Russo from House of Cards!) as the sort-of villain Darren Cross/Yellowjacket.

Here's the official synopsis from Marvel:

"Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world."

Ant-Man hits UK cinemas on 17 July, 2015.
