From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Mysterious new horror Antebellum provides an intriguing if challenging spin on the alternate reality genre.

From the producers of Get Out and Us, the film stars Janelle Monáe as a famous star who finds herself trapped in a horrifying 19th-century dimension, where slavery is still legal.

While the Twilight Zone-style film’s new trailer gives nothing away, it hints at a deeper mystery at play.

Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz have written and directed the Lionsgate film, which also stars Gabourey Sidibe, Jack Huston and Jena Malone.

Monáe most recently appeared in the second season of Homecoming.

Antebellum will be part of the first slew of films to be released after cinemas reopen for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic.

Disney’s live-action version of Mulan and Christopher Nolan’s Tenet will lead Antebellum with their respective July releases.

Antebellum will be released in the US on 21 August, but its UK arrival is yet to be announced.
