A title has finally been announced for the long-awaited Lonely Island film project and it's expectedly irreverent.

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is expected to be a music mockumentary, co-produced by Judd Apatow, that is cut from the same cloth as Spinal Tap; exciting news for those familiar with the comedy trio headed by Andy Samberg.

The film's plot will follow the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor's failed rap star, named Conner4Real, who attempts to reform his old cheesy pop boy band.

As well as Samberg, the trio - formed in 2001 - is completed by Saturday Night Live! alumni Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, who are both directing the film.

The musical group are renowned for their comedy songs "Like a Boss", "I Just Had Sex" and "D*ck in a Box," the latter of which featured Justin Timberlake.

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping will also star Sarah Silverman, Imogen Poots and The Inbetweeners actor James Buckley who'll play Sponge, a member of Connor4Real's entourage.

The film will be released in June; never stop never being excited.
