From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. With filming of Alien: Covenant wrapping earlier this month, the cast of the film have given their first thought on Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel/Alien prequel.

Michael Fassbender, one of the only cast members returning from Prometheus for the follow-up, has been one of those cast members, revealing to Collider that the upcoming film will be “much scarier” than the last one.

“This Alien is going to be… I’m very excited to see it and everybody in the film was saying this is a film that we all want to see. It’s much scarier than Prometheus but it’s got the same sort of scope of Prometheus.

“It’s kind of got more of the sort of thriller, imminent disaster feel that Alien had, so it’s kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films. I’m really excited to see it, I think it’s gonna be super scary number one and then again with the massive scope of Prometheus… Once it starts and the ball starts rolling, it doesn’t let up. It’s really gonna bring chills to the cinema.”

As noted in the report, Prometheus focussed more on the characters discovering a new world rather than the scary elements, a contrast to the original Alien which primarily focussed on Ripley’s encounter an extraterrestrial horror.

Meanwhile, a supposed ‘spoiler’ leaked this year, revealing how Katherine Waterston’s character may link to the original films - Warning: link could contain a huge spoiler for the film.

Alien: Covenant is set for release in the US on 4 August 2017.
