Aladdin to get prequel about the enslavement of the Genie
Live action spin-off will look at genies in general

Aladdin is the latest classic Disney film to be shaken back into life, with a live-action prequel on the way centring around genies.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new project will 'focus on the realm of the Genies and reveal how Aladdin's Genie ended up enslaved in the lamp.'
The film is only in the early stages of development, but the comedy adventure is expected to be written by Freddy vs. Jason's Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, with Tripp Vinson producing.
A new actor will be stepping into the role of Aladdin's Genie, with voice actor from the original Robin Williams having passed away last year.
The live-action-ification of Disney animations is unstoppable lately, with Cinderella having proven a success and a new Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson on the way.
Classic tale and cartoon Pinocchio is also set to get a live-action retelling, bizarrely from There Will Be Blood director Paul Thomas Anderson, if reports are to be believed.
The fate of The Little Mermaid is uncertain meanwhile, Sofia Coppola having dropped out due to creative differences.
