Fifty Shades of Grey trailer 2: We get to see more of Jamie Dornan's Christian Grey, but the teaser is more romcom than S&M

We get a little glimpse inside the Red Room of Pain, a few blindfolds, a bit of duct tape and a (admittedly rather sedate) hint at danger

Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Mr Grey will see you now.

After last week’s 15 second “teaser” left a lot to be desired (we basically got to see the S&M-loving billionaire’s suit collection), this second trailer for the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey is rather more satisfying.

But the brief insight into Sam Taylor-Johnson’s movie adaptation of EL James’ bestselling trilogy (set to the synthed up strains of Beyonce’s “Haunted”) feels more safe romcom than “mummy porn”.

So, what was he like? “He was really smart, really intense,” a breathy Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) says of her control-freak lover played by Jamie Dornan (last seen alongside Gillian Anderson in The Fall which returned to BBC yesterday evening).

“My tastes are very…singular,” he says. “Enlighten me then.”

Oh yes and then we get a little glimpse inside the Red Room of Pain, a few blindfolds, a bit of duct tape and a (admittedly rather sedate) hint at danger as the wounded rich kid warns gruffly: “You should steer clear of me, I’m not the man for you.”

The movie, which also stars Dakota Johnson, Jennifer Ehle and Marcia Gay Harden, is set for release on Valentine’s Day 2015.

Dornan admitted last this week that the film will not have “gratuitous sex scenes”, and said that he would not be appearing nude.

The film’s first trailer, released in June, was met with mixed reception with some calling it “50 Shades of Tame”.
